Disease ID:D001249DOID:2841
Disease Name:Asthmaasthma
Category:MeSHDisease Ontology
Type:Respiratory Tract Diseases//Immune System Diseasesdisease of anatomical entity
Define:A form of bronchial disorder with three distinct components: airway hyper-responsiveness (RESPIRATORY HYPERSENSITIVITY), airway INFLAMMATION, and intermittent AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION. It is characterized by spasmodic contraction of airway smooth muscle, WHEEZING, and dyspnea (DYSPNEA, PAROXYSMAL).A bronchial disease that is characterized by chronic inflammation and narrowing of the airways, which is caused by a combination of environmental and genetic factors. The disease has_symptom recurring periods of wheezing (a whistling sound while breathing), has_symptom chest tightness, has_symptom shortness of breath, has_symptom mucus production and has_symptom coughing.
Alias:Asthma, Bronchial//Bronchial Asthmabronchial hyperreactivity//chronic obstructive asthma//chronic obstructive asthma with acute exacerbation//chronic obstructive asthma with status asthmaticus

[1] PubMed ID:40442279
Disease Name:Asthma
Tissue:sputum and blood
Dysfunction Pattern:Down-Regulation
Validated Method:PCR//Western blot//High-throughput sequencing
Description:Quantification of both 5’-tRHGly and 5’-tRH Gly in plasma revealed a highly significant downregulation of these molecules in asthmatic patients, regardless of their severity.
Comparision:Disease VS Control
Mechanism:Both tRHs were downregulated in the plasma of asthmatic patients, while elevated 5’-tRH Gly levels were observed in severe sputum samples, indicating tissue-specific roles in disease pathology. Additionally, tRH expression in leukocytes was negatively associated with the disrupted corticosteroid response in asthmatic patients. Altered levels of ANG and 5’-tRH Glu and 5’-tRH Gly were further validated in an in vitro model of pollutant-aggravated, allergen-stimulated macrophages.
